If you or your doctor notices a lump or a change in
your breast, your doctor may recommend that you see
a breast surgeon for further evaluation. The surgeon
will examine you to determine if the breast mass is
palpable (located near the surface of the breast and
can be felt) or not palpable (located deeper in the
breast tissue and can not be felt). The surgeon will
then recommend that you undergo a biopsy.
At SVCCC, biopsies are performed on an outpatient
basis and do not require a hospital stay. Our doctors
use several biopsy methods; the choice often depends
on the size and location of the lump or area in question
and your general health.
