| Biography: |
Steven J. Sferlazza, MD, is Chief Radiologist for the Division of Breast Imaging at St. Vincent's Comprehensive Cancer Center in New York City. A board certified radiologist, Dr. Sferlazza has been at St. Vincent's Comprehensive Cancer Center since 2003.
Dr. Sferlazza personally provides full-time on-site imaging services for patients and physicians. He brings highly specialized expertise in screening ultrasonography and galactography (important for women with symptoms of nipple discharge) to the Center. In addition to his duties at the Cancer Center, Dr. Sferlazza is an attending physician in diagnostic radiology at St. Vincent's Hospital in New York City.
Among his many accomplishments, Dr. Sferlazza has authored numerous articles published in medical journals, including American Journal of Roentgenology, American Review of Respiratory Disease, and Journal of Occupational and Environmental Medicine.
Dr. Sferlazza graduated from Yale University School of Medicine, New Haven, CT, and completed his internship and residency at Norwalk Hospital in Norwalk, CT. He was awarded a fellowship in the Department of Radiology from Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia. Dr. Sferlazza graduated summa cum laude with a degree in Biology and Fine Art from Adelphi University, Garden City, NY where he received a Presidential Achievement Scholarship.
Dr. Sferlazza has been honored by the Yale School of Medicine with the JM Foundation Award and was chosen to receive the Queens College Scholar Award. He previously served as assistant professor of radiology at Cornell University School of Medicine. He is a member of the American Roentgen Ray Society, New York Metropolitan Mammography Society and Radiological Society of North America.
