Michael P. Fanucchi, MD, brings a distinguished clinical, academic, and research background to his position as Medical Director at St. Vincent’s Comprehensive Cancer Center, New York, NY and Section Chief of Medical Oncology at St. Vincent’s Hospital Manhattan, New York, NY. He will also have an academic appointment at New York Medical College.
Most recently, he was Deputy Chief Medical Officer, Emory Winship Cancer Institute, Atlanta, GA, and Chief, Hematology/Oncology, Emory Crawford Long Hospital. Dr. Fanucchi held academic appointments as Associate Professor of Hematology/Oncology and Associate Professor of Otolaryngology, Emory University School of Medicine, Atlanta, GA. While at Emory, Dr. Fanucchi received awards for teaching excellence by physician fellows and residents.
Dr. Fanucchi is a nationally recognized oncologist, having authored and co-authored many published medical articles and led numerous clinical trials as principal investigator. His research has focused on clinical trials in patients with thoracic malignancies and sarcomas, emphasizing investigational drugs.
Previous appointments included those at Purdue Frederick Company, Norwalk, CT, Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center and Cornell University Medical College, New York, NY, and in private practice.
He served his internship and residency in internal medicine at Bronx Municipal Hospital Center, Albert Einstein College of Medicine, New York, NY. Dr. Fanucchi completed his fellowship in medical oncology at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, Cornell University Medical College. He received his medical training at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. He is a graduate of Stanford University, Stanford, CA.
Dr. Fanucchi is a member of the American Society for Cancer Research, American Society of Clinical Oncology, Connective Tissue Oncology Society, and International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer.
