Mohamed Aziz, MD, is Chief of Breast and Sarcoma Pathology at St. Vincent's Comprehensive Cancer Center in New York City. A board certified anatomic pathologist and cytopathologist, Dr. Aziz has been at St. Vincent's Comprehensive Cancer Center since 2003. Dr. Aziz works with the Center's medical oncologists and surgeons to review and examine suspicious lumps removed from the breast and other body sites. He performs Fine Needle Aspiration of any palpable mass, which provide immediate diagnostic evaluation. to determine the exact type and stage of the disease.
Among his many accomplishments, Dr. Aziz has authored articles published in medical journals and Textbooks, including Modern Pathology, Clinical Nuclear Medicine, Radiology, and Acta Cytologica. He has presented his work to the United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology at various annual meetings. He is a member of numerous professional organizations including College of American Pathologists, American Society of Clinical Pathology, New York Pathological Society, American Registry of Pathology, New York Pathology Club and the American Medical Association.
Dr. Aziz graduated from Ain Shams University College of Medicine, Cairo, Egypt, and completed his internship and residency in Surgical/Clinical Pathology at New York Medical College, Saint Vincent's Medical Center in New York City. He was awarded fellowships at New York University Hospital for Joint Diseases and Albert Einstein School of Medicine at the LIJ Medical Center, where he developed a subspecialty in Bone and Soft tissue Sarcoma as well as Cytopathology. Dr. Aziz's experience prior to joining St. Vincent's Comprehensive Cancer Center included serving as the vice president of Omegapath Diagnostics Corporation, Utica, NY; he also worked as a medical officer for Salen Lindblad World Cruising as a ship's doctor. He is currently an assistant professor of Pathology at New York Medical College in Valhalla, NY.
A resident of Bellmore, NY, Dr. Aziz is married with one son.
